Chapter 24
“you really should start accepting me Annabell…tomorrow is our wedding” Bernard said “I still want you despite trying to run away from me” Bernard said running the back of his hand down the side of Annabells wet face as he knelt beside her.
Annabell looked at him
“how did you know where I was?”
“I told you Annabell I get what I want and your my ticket to my inheritance as well as yours…did you really think I was just going to let you run away with that lumber boy” Bernard said picking Annabell up bridal style in the rain as he walked towards her house.
“how did you know?” Annabell asked repeating her question.
“the maids know everything my dear and there way to easy to bribe for information” Bernard said that familiar smirk crawling across his face.
As they reached the door it opened and Johnson stepped out putting his hat on his head until he saw Annabell in Bernards arms, his gaze turning from her face to his.
“Annabell! What happened?” Johnson asked quickly removing his hat from his head as he took his sister from her fiancées arms.
“I believe she spranged her ankle poor thing found her out on the road horse went lame…” Bernard said and Johnson looked at him holding back his anger for this man what his parents saw in him he would never understand. Johnson helped annabell to her feet supporting her.
“well best be going…I will see you both tomorrow” he said leaning in to kiss Annabell but her Johnsons hand on his chest stopped him from coming any closer and with that Bernard turned leaving the house slamming the door behind him.
Annabell turned to Johnson
“what happened?” he asked
“Joseph did not show up… I sat there for hours John and he never came John he never came!” Annabell said starting to cry as her brother pulled her into a hug.
“Bernard knew I was there he showed up and I asked him to take me home and I slipped getting out of the carriage” annabell said pulling away glancing down at her ankle.
“Joseph never met you?” her brother asked as shocked as she was, Annabell shook her head crying once again.
Annabell spent the next morning as if she were a statue frozen in a state of hopeless despair.
Annabell was just a few hours away from a wedding that would ruin her life. Annabell looked at her reflection in the mirror.
She had on her wedding dress and hair was done, her jewerly was on and she knew all that was left was to walk into the church.
“Annabell”
She turned her gaze towards her door-way to see her mother.
“You look beautiful…Bernard is here dear he wants to take you to a suprise” her mother said and Annabell looked once more at her reflection, thoughts of Joseph and the life she had planned for herself flooding her head…she pushed them aside feeling alone and almost abondaned.
“Annabell I know you do not want to marry Bernard” her mother said softly. Annabell looked up at her mother hoping she had a last minute understanding of how Annabell truly felt.
“But I do believe that one day you will thank us” her mother said and Annabell felt her heart drop along with her gaze as it went to the ground.
Within a mere 30 minutes Annabell found herself in a carriage beside Bernard as he drove her through a field.
“Over the last 4 weeks I have had our house built” Bernard had been rambling he entire ride bu Annabell barely heard the words he spoke.
Annabell felt as if she were in a dream a dream where everything she wanted and loved was taken away from her…a dream where she could do nothing to stop her world from quickly spinning out of control.
Annabell felt a pain and while it wasn’t a physical pain she felt it in her heart.
Annabell had to use all of self control to hold back the tears as Bernard pulled into the field where only a few weeks ago Annabell and Joseph had sat talking of a future.
In the distance was a half built house, Bernard stopped the carriage infront of it and Annabell got out as she looked up at the huge house.
Bernard offered her a half smile and she could not help but glance down at the ground as she walked up the stairs.
Annabell walked into a open room that over viewed the field infront of them.

It’s been an hour and I was still blowing up balloons for Nick’s party. How many balloons does a party need? All my brothers on the other hand were all outiside enjoying the pool, which I thought was totally unfair. Their excuse was that they had to spend time with Nick since he only turns sixteen once, what a bunch of crap. I was just about to blow up another balloon until the doorbell saved me. I set the orange balloon down and opened it. It was Jesal she was wearing a pink neon tank top that totally exposed her big boobs, why doesnt this surprise me?
